If I was to pick one band that encapsulated the sound of Masstransfer, it would be Landing. They are not just one of my favorite bands of all time; the band members are some of my favorite people, and I’ve been a fan since at least 1998. Starting with their first EP, *Centrefuge*, their music has grown and evolved around the core of Adrienne and Aaron Snow, with Daron Gardner first taking up drum duties before moving to bass.

Looking back now on their full career, you can see phases emerge: like the shorter acoustic-based songs of the early 2000s; or their collaboration with Yume Bitsu and K Records; or later, a series of releases that utilize the services of a drum machine. In each case, the best components of each phase are absorbed into the Landing canon, synthesized and improved for the next batch of releases.
From the first eerie piano chords on “Onizuka” to “Honey Bee”, the debut album from this premier Philly psyche/space outfit is pure good times. Prone to long jams and Edie Sedgewick samples, there is definitely a late-60's fixation here, more specifically to Pink Floyd. However, these 11 tracks stand on their own, and are almost engaging as the A#4’s live shows. “What A Sorry Way To Go”, released earlier this year as a single, is the epitome of A#4’s sound: solid rhythms, steady flowing basslines, crunchy guitar chords, a lil bit o’ sitar, and vocals that don’t overwhelm the mixture. Now that you’ve been introduced, feel free to mingle with the guests. The Asteroid No. 4: ask for it by name.
They chose the area because, as bassist Gregg Weiss explains, "we all live in Manayunk now except for Eric so it seemed logical and that's where we found the space. There are also 2 other studios right around the corner, so ends up its going to be a sort of 'studio row'.
